What is the Personal Project?
The personal project is an individual project completed in MYP 5. It basically consists of three main components:
1) A Process Journal
2) The Product
3) The Personal Statement/Report
It is an important part of the MYP Programme, providing the students with the opportunity to demonstrate the skills they have learned during their MYP years, especially those regarding the Areas of Interaction. As it is an individualized project, for which students have the opportunity to choose their topic, and enjoy learning about it as they research and develop their chosen product. The skills they develop will be helpful in the Extended Essay/Senior Research Project which is a requirement for the Diploma Programme.
What are the aims of the Personal Project?
The aims of the personal project are to:
- Demonstrate the personal abilities and skills required to produce and present an extended piece of work
- Engage in personal inquiry, action and reflection on specific topics and issues
- Focus on, and demonstrate an understanding of, the areas of interaction
- Reflect on learning and share knowledge, views and opinions.
All students are required to achieve at least a grade 3 in the Personal Project in order to achieve MYP certification.
