The Language A1 program is a course of literary study in the student's best language.
For many, this may be their mother tongue, while for others it will be the language
of instruction at their school. The syllabus focuses upon a critical consideration
of literary works through both oral and written mediums and includes a World Literature
component comprising translated works originally written in a language other than
the Language A1 studied. Since most of the curriculum at TIS is taught in English,
this is the language offered at the school. Students whose first language is not
offered, have the option of taking it as a Self-Taught course at standard level
(SL). The Self-Taught option for Language A1 is only applicable to languages for
which an instructor is not available at the school. In such cases, the student will
be assigned a qualified coordinator to oversee the program and ensure that the necessary
requirements are fulfilled. |
