PART A: Studio Work |
Paper 1 - Exhibition/demonstration of work to be viewed
by and discussed with a visiting examiner appointed by
the IBO
- Display should include final work as well as process
work that has contributed significantly to the final outcome
(e.g. sketches, notes, etc.)
- For candidates concentrating on one or two major projects,
a portfolio of preparatory studies, design research, experiments,
etc. must also be presented
- Amount of work presented will vary for each candidate,
e.g. complex projects with only two or three final products
or 20-30 works varying between excellent, satisfactory
and interesting failure
In the event
that the school has not been assigned a visiting examiner,
the candidate will prepare a portfolio of original
work, including slides, to be mailed to the IBO

PART B: Research Workbooks |
- Independent research
- Critical appreciation – formal, technical and
aesthetic qualities of the art form studied
- Awareness of cultural / historical / social context
- HL – Experimental studio research
HL workbooks will also be assessed by the visiting
examiner
