IB MIDDLE YEARS PROGRAM
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IBMYP) is for students in an 11-16 years age range, and is designed on the concepts of multicultural awareness, holistic, learning and communication. It provides a framework with the objectives aimed at improving academic skills, as well as developing character appropriately for this stage of adolescence.

IB MYP Curriculum

The program requires:

- Students to study at least one course or subject from each of the 8 disciplines

- Teachers to incorporate the Areas of Interaction (AOI) themes in the teaching of their respective courses in the academic framework

- Students to complete a Personal Project

- Students to perform Community Service


* Note: Pakistan Studies and Religious Studies are compulsory for Pakistani nationals.

Disciplines: All courses or subjects are grouped in the following 8 disciplines:

Language A
The student's best language, usually the school's language of instruction

Language B
A modern foreign language learned at school

Humanities
History and Geography

Sciences
Biology, Chemistry, Physics

Mathematics
Course including the five branches of mathematics: number, algebra, geometry and trigonometry, probability and statistics, and discrete mathematics

Arts
Visual arts and performing arts

Physical education
Course, including health and fitness, individual and team sports

Technology
Computer and Design Technology

Areas of Interaction (AOI)
These themes are addressed through out the five-year MYP cycle.

 

 

  • Approaches To Learning (ATL)
    which concentrates on developing effective study skills.

    Key Guiding questions:
    How do I learn best?
    How do I know?
    How do I communicate my understanding?

 

  • Community Service (CS)
    which creates a sense of "WE" as opposed to "I"

    Key Guiding questions:
    How do we live in relation to each other?
    How can I contribute to the community?
    How can I help others?

 

  • Health and Social education (HSE)
    which creates awareness of the various aspects of health

    Key Guiding questions:
    How do I think and act?
    How am I changing?
    How can I look after myself and others?

 

  • Environment (EN)
    which focuses on conservation, sustained growth and harmony with nature

    Key Guiding questions:
    Where do we live?
    What resources do we have or need?
    What are my responsibilities?

 

  • Human Ingenuity - (HI)
    which is concerned with inspirational creativity and inventive genius

    Key Guiding questions:
    Why and how do we create?
    What are the consequences?
